Product Life Cycle Management for the fashion industry
Windows and MacOS X
Workflow Driven Product Information Management
Product development is central to the success of your company. The need to supply an increasing number and variety of profitable products throughout the year has increased pressure on the product development team and at the same time made critical the open flow of information among the design, merchandising, engineering, costing, and manufacturing departments.
|
Streamline Your Product Development Process
PolyOrganize is a workflow driven Product Information Management (PIM) system for the sewn goods industry. It provides a tight but flexible
organization of product specifications modelled after the actual workflow. It uses a common database to relate every aspect of style specification
including graphics and textual information and makes it available across department boundaries and globally through the World Wide Web. |
 |
More Than Computerized Forms
PolyOrganize is more than computerized forms. It is a true PIM system, which can manage the partially-specified information and continuous refinement of specifications which take place throughout product development. Early Product Data Management systems were form-oriented and suitable for preparing a style package to communicate style specifications. PolyOrganize is not simply an after-the-fact receptacle for your product data. It is a product development tool which allows you to:
-quickly evaluate alternatives in terms of style and cost
-track modifications and status of specifications
-keep track of deadlines and generate action plans
-locate critical information by searching across styles using any criteria
-seamlessly integrate with your CAD, MRP, and ERP systems
-effortlessly communicate up-to-the-minute style specifications to trading partners anywhere in the world |
Ready-to-Use
PolyOrganize is a ready-to-use information system, requiring minimal installation and setup times. It is customizable by the non-specialist and there are no extra costs in database administration. Its easy, consistent, and comfortable interface reduces learning time. So within a short time of installing PolyOrganize you will achieve:
-reduced product development cycle time
-reduced costs in sample production due to errors and rework
-reduced task redundancies
-reduced product revisions
-improved communications
-improved efficiency and consistency of product specifications
-improved information flow throughout the enterprise
-improved supply chain management |
Cross Platform
PolyOrganize runs under Windows or MacOSX. This is an important issue for apparel manufacturers, where it is common to see MacOS-based computers in the style department and Windows-based computers in costing, administration, and management.
Workflow Driven
PolyOrganize is work-flow driven, not data-driven. This means that important information can be treated differently from unimportant information. Important information can be codified and stored in libraries for re-use on other styles. Non-important or uncertain information can be entered directly on a style, and changed or added to the libraries directly at any time. |

Ready-to-Use
PolyOrganize is a ready-to-use information system, requiring minimal installation and setup times. It is customizable by the non-specialist and there are no extra costs in database administration.
Custom Reports
PolyOrganize provides a set of standard reports, plus the capability for users to truly create and modify their own reports. This means that almost any imaginable printed output can be achieved, without development effort and customization fees.
Drag & Drop Simplicity
Materials and operations can be dragged from re-usable libraries onto styles for the quickest possible style definition.
|

|
Power Search
PolyOrganize gives you the power to combine search criteria to get useful information. For example, it's possible to find all the single-jersey 100% cotton fabrics used in the current collection, or to find all styles created after a given date which use a certain fabric.
Image Handling
PolyOrganize lets you associate one or more images with every aspect of the style specification. Images can be stored inside the database in compressed format, or linked as external files. All major image formats are supported, including PICT, TIFF, JPEG, and BMP. |
 |
Workflow Management
In PolyOrganize you can easily setup any number of style milestone templates. Milestones can be linked to specific style components, such as fabrics or size specs. A simple click will get you a sortable to-do list for any or all users for a specified period of time.
Modification History
You can turn on automatic logging of style changes and PolyOrganize will record every change made to a style, logging the department, user, and detailed description of the change.
Templates
PolyOrganize was designed so that you spend as little time as possible entering data. From styles and trims to sizing, sewing operations and style milestones, you can create templates or groups of objects that can be instantly retrieved and modified if appropriate. |
 |
Custom Reports
PolyOrganize provides a set of standard reports, plus the capability for users to truly create and modify their own reports. This means that almost any imaginable printed output can be achieved, without development effort and customization fees.
Customizable
Through an extensive preferences list, PolyOrganize can be customized to use your default values and be set to behave the way you want it to. A units editor ensures that you can work with any unit for any value in the system, and a view editor lets you control what you see on screen.
|
 |
User-Definable Fields
On another level of user-customizability, PolyOrganize provides you with 36 user-definable fields on every style.
Multilingual
PolyOrganize is available in a number of languages, and each individual user can choose the language in which forms are viewed.
Style Documents
PolyOrganize allows you to associate an unlimited number of images and documents with any style. This is useful for associating any kind of information, such as spreadsheets, word processing documents, or promotional images, with a style.
|
 |
Multi-level Specs and Costing
Important materials or garment features, such as fabric, can be analysed and costed at whatever level you find appropriate at any given time. Costing can also be done separately for any size/color combination.
Automatic Price Lookup
PolyOrganize lets you maintain a multi-currency price list for all the materials in the database. When costing, the click of a button updates the cost of all materials in the style according to the latest prices in the price list.
|
 |
Messaging & e-mail
PolyOrganize provides your organization with a searchable messaging system in which messages can be related to styles and categorized according to your own specifications. Messages can also be sent via e-mail to anyone, including PolyOrganize users, external contractors, or suppliers, who may need to be notified.
Proactive
PolyOrganize can be set to automatically generate and send e-mails to concerned parties under certain conditions, such as when something is overdue, or a modification is made to a style definition.
|
 |
Web-enabled
The same server serves data to both web and non-web clients, so everyone sees up-to-the-minute changes, and there are no administrative overheads in maintaining information on the web.
Integration
In addition to providing a general-purpose, scriptable import/export mechanism for any data in the system, PolyOrganize can be dynamically integrated with any application using standards such as ODBC and SQL.
|
 |
Connecting PolyOrganize to Other Databases
PolyOrganize has a general-purpose, fully scriptable, import/export mechanism which allows you to import and export any of the data in the system in common formats such as text, dbf, and SYLK. Exports can be scheduled to run automatically at fixed dates or intervals.
In addition, PolyOrganize can be dynamically integrated with any application, in a number of ways.
PolyOrganize Interface to Other Databases Using ODBC (Open Database Connectivity)
There are two ways of integrating PolyOrganize with other databases via ODBC. First, PolyOrganize can act as the data source, allowing other applications full access to PolyOrganize data. For example, an ODBC application could transfer to the PolyOrganize database the latest material prices, or it could transfer from PolyOrganize the latest style information. Secondly, PolyOrganize can be customized to communicate with an external ODBC data source, displaying, manipulating, and modifying data stored in that database. For example, PolyOrganize could be customized to send, upon style definition completion, the complete specification to another database.
PolyOrganize Interface to Oracle and SQL Databases
PolyOrganize can be customized to store a mirror of its data in an Oracle or SQL database. Any modification of data in the one database would automatically update the other.
PolyOrganize Interface to Desktop Applications
Other applications can retrieve and modify data in the PolyOrganize database through the 4D Open Application Programming Interface. For example, PolyPattern, CAD software for pattern design and marking, uses the 4D Open API to send pattern and marker data to PolyOrganize. |
